This piece was created by the Grade 3 learners from the Anna Foundation’s Lorraine after-school project. With a strong sense of South African identity, the children used 50c coins, rooibos tea, seashells, beads, and magazine cutouts featuring recipes and interesting facts about the country. A subtle nod to traditional African patterns runs through the background in the form of a long, patterned stripe.
They also included representations of the national flower and national fish, bringing together elements that celebrate the richness of South Africa’s culture and natural heritage.
